Drinking wine is different from drinking other everyday beverages, such as soda or juices. Most 750 ml bottles are about 11-12 inches high; the diameters generally are about 3-3.5 inches, so size is important. Smaller berries = better skin to fruit ratio = more tannin.(Warmer years tend to produce small berries.) Petit Verdot and Cabernet Sauvignon have a thick skin and can extract plenty of tannins.
